Bullet Bras Evolution || Where did Bullet Bras go to?
Kenyan diplomat Monica Juma has been appointed Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, placing her in charge of one of the United Nations’ most important global agencies.
Her appointment has drawn praise from William Ruto, who congratulated her and said her years of service in government have earned recognition beyond Kenya’s borders.
Juma has recently served as National Security Advisor and Secretary to the National Security Council, a role that placed her at the center of Kenya’s security and policy decisions. Over the years, she has held several senior positions in government and has built a reputation as a careful and experienced policy strategist.
From National Security to Global Leadership
Throughout her career, Juma has worked in key areas of government, including diplomacy, security, and international relations. Her work has often taken place away from the public spotlight, but it has played an important role in shaping Kenya’s policies.

Her appointment to lead the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime means she will now oversee international efforts to tackle issues such as drug trafficking, corruption, organized crime, and terrorism financing.
At the same time, she will also serve as Director General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, one of the United Nations’ major global offices.
Appointment Made by UN Secretary-General
The decision was made by António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
President Ruto thanked the UN leadership for recognizing a Kenyan leader and noted that Juma’s appointment also highlights the growing role of women in international leadership.
The announcement has come as the world marks International Women’s Day, a time when global attention focuses on the achievements of women across different sectors.
A Moment of Pride for Kenya
Juma’s appointment has been seen as an important moment for Kenya’s diplomacy. The country has increasingly taken part in global discussions on security, development, and international cooperation.
With a Kenyan now leading a major UN agency, Kenya’s voice in global affairs is expected to grow stronger.
For Monica Juma, the role marks the latest step in a long career in public service — one that has now taken her from Kenya’s national security circles to the center of global policymaking.
