In a strong endorsement of US military action, Israel’s President issued a public statement hailing the recent American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites as both “necessary and justified.” Speaking from the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem, the head of state commended Washington for acting decisively to prevent what he called “a catastrophic threat to the civilized world.”
The President, while largely a ceremonial figure in Israel’s political structure, carries moral weight and often reflects the national consensus during major geopolitical moments. His remarks echoed those of the Israeli Prime Minister, but with a broader internationalist tone.
The President emphasized that Iran’s nuclear ambitions represent a threat far beyond the Middle East. He framed the US intervention as a protective measure not only for Israel but for Europe, Asia, and the international community at large.
“This isn’t just a Jewish concern or an Israeli problem,” he declared. “It is a global red line that the United States has finally enforced. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our American allies.”
Echoing the urgency of the moment, the President called upon other Western democracies and regional powers to take a unified stance against Iran’s “reckless defiance of international law.” He warned that “silence and neutrality in the face of nuclear blackmail are forms of complicity.”
He further appealed to NATO, the European Union, and the UN Security Council to back the US decision and to be prepared for further collective security measures.
Although the airstrikes were executed solely by US forces, diplomatic insiders report that Israel provided critical intelligence in the lead-up to the attack. While not officially confirmed, multiple reports suggest that Israeli defense agencies helped identify precise weak points in Iran’s underground nuclear infrastructure, including the Fordow site.
The President did not comment directly on these operational details but stated unequivocally that Israel remains “fully prepared to defend its territory and its people should Iran or any of its proxies seek revenge.”
In a rare move, the President addressed the Iranian public directly, stating:
“We distinguish between the regime and the people. Israel seeks peace with all nations. It is your leadership that endangers your future and your safety, not ours.”
This portion of the speech appeared aimed at undercutting any nationalist rallying cry within Iran and reinforcing the image of Israel as targeting only the hostile actions of the Islamic Republic’s regime.
Following the airstrikes, Israel has heightened its military readiness, particularly in its northern border with Lebanon and in key areas of the Negev and Golan Heights. Emergency drills and intelligence coordination with US CENTCOM forces have also been reported.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are underway in major capitals to prevent full-scale war. The President concluded his remarks by urging “restraint through strength” and warned Iran not to mistake international resolve for aggression.
