The United States is preparing for a large-scale military parade in Washington, D.C., organized under the direction of former President Donald Trump. Questions have been raised regarding the use of taxpayer funds for a ceremonial event, particularly at a time when many public services and military support programs face financial constraints.
Donald Trump has long expressed admiration for grand military parades, inspired in part by international displays such as France’s Bastille Day celebration. Although his previous attempt at organizing a similar event in 2018 was cancelled due to cost concerns, this year’s parade represents the full realization of that ambition. For some observers, it serves as a personal political statement more than a national observance.
