Israel’s military has intensified attacks on Gaza City, targeting Zeitoun, Sabra, Remal, and Tuffah. UN officials warned that Israel’s plans to push residents south will only deepen suffering. Thousands have fled the Zeitoun neighborhood, now devastated by continuous bombardment.
On Sunday, an Israeli strike hit al-Ahli Arab Hospital, killing at least seven people. Overall, Israel killed at least 57 Palestinians that day, including 38 who were seeking aid.
Nearly 90% of Gaza’s 2.4 million people are displaced, with starvation worsening under Israel’s siege. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported seven new hunger deaths in 24 hours, raising the starvation toll to 258, including 110 children.
Desperate families crowd charity kitchens for small portions of rice or lentils. “My children haven’t had bread or breakfast,” said Zeinab Nabahan, displaced from Jabalia. Others described waiting for hours daily just to secure scraps of food.
Prime Minister Netanyahu defended relocation to “safe zones,” though these areas have also been repeatedly bombed. Hamas denounced Israel’s tent plan as a “new wave of genocide” and a cover for mass displacement.
Rights groups and international leaders condemned Israel’s operations as violations of humanitarian law. Fear and despair dominate Gaza, with families expressing hopelessness amid repeated displacements.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said Gaza is on the brink of famine, warning of “deliberate attempts” to undermine UN-led aid distribution. Juliette Touma of UNRWA called the crisis a “man-made famine” and urged a return to UN-coordinated humanitarian channels.
The World Food Programme (WFP) said only 47% of intended aid reaches Gaza’s population and that 500,000 people are “on the brink of famine.” Officials stressed that only a ceasefire could allow scaled-up aid delivery.
