Kenya Power conducts routine maintenance periodically to strengthen electricity distribution networks and reduce unexpected outages. Today’s scheduled interruptions are part of a broader infrastructure improvement programme designed to enhance supply reliability across both urban and rural service areas.
Such maintenance typically involves replacement of aging equipment, installation of new lines, transformer servicing, and upgrades to distribution connections serving residential and commercial customers.
These interventions are necessary to support growing electricity demand across the country.
Several locations within Kiambu County are experiencing temporary supply interruptions during the maintenance window. The affected zones include parts of Ndumbuini, Kinoo 87, Uthiru 87, Njathaini, Kanyariri Market, and areas surrounding the Kabete veterinary campus.
The maintenance activities in these areas are expected to improve local distribution stability once completed.
In Uasin Gishu County, maintenance is taking place in selected locations including Lingwai, Chuiyat, Bindura, Kamuywo, Usalama Koisagat, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
The work targets improvement of feeder lines serving agricultural zones and residential settlements.
Nyeri County is also among the regions scheduled for today’s network maintenance. Locations experiencing temporary power interruptions include Gatugi, Gura, Giathenge Market, Karima Mission, Kagongo, and nearby trading centres.
These upgrades are intended to strengthen electricity reliability across local institutions and households.
In Laikipia County, maintenance activities are underway in Sirimon, Timau, Ngusishi, and neighbouring areas. Similar exercises are also affecting Difathas, Karuagi, Piai, and adjacent locations within Kirinyaga County.
These works form part of broader improvements targeting regional feeder connections.
Most of the scheduled maintenance operations are expected to take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., although restoration times may vary depending on technical progress in each location.
Customers are generally advised to switch off sensitive electrical equipment during maintenance hours and resume normal usage once supply stabilizes.

Routine maintenance remains essential for sustaining a stable national electricity network. Without periodic upgrades and inspections, the likelihood of unexpected outages increases, particularly in rapidly expanding residential and commercial areas.
Today’s maintenance programme therefore reflects ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve long-term reliability of electricity supply across affected counties.
