KPLC schedules periodic maintenance to ensure that the electricity network remains safe, stable, and efficient. Interruptions allow technicians to:
-Upgrade aging lines and transformers
-Relocate cables where road construction or development projects demand
-Connect new customers to the grid without causing dangerous live-line work
-Replace faulty or weak components before they trigger unplanned blackouts
Although inconvenient for customers, these planned interruptions are aimed at preventing larger, unexpected outages and ensuring that the network continues to meet growing demand.
Parklands, parts of Ngara, Museum, Westlands Road, sections of Kipande Road, KU School of Law, Chemilil Road, Musembi Road, Qwetu, and adjacent areas will be disconnected from 9 am to 5 pm.
Letting, Kapsorok Concrete, Kapsorok Market, Kamalel Market, and surrounding areas will experience outages between 9 am and 5 pm.
Areas around Kibichoi, Marige, Komothai Boys, Komothai Girls, Kigumo, Gathugu, Gitombo, Gathiruini, Githioro, Mount Moriah, and Kibichoi Shops will go dark from 9 am to 5 pm.
Ndithini, Makuyu, and Tana will be affected, including Ndithini Mission Hospital, Ndithini Children’s Home, and Tana Ranch. Power will be off from 9 am to 5 pm.
Sagana State Lodge, Kiganjo Fisheries, Karandi Market, Iruri Market, surrounding villages, and telecommunication boosters will face outages from 9 am to 5 pm.
Miathene, Kiandiu, Uuru, Thaari, Kianjai, Kirukire, Kathiiri, Karimba, and nearby schools, markets, and health centers will be cut off between 8 am and 5 pm.
Lungalunga, Kilimangodo, Mwereni, Kidomaya, Horohoro, Mwananyamala, Mwangulu, and Godo will be without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.
Masawa Village, Obumba Secondary, Achuodho School, Kasarani Market, Land Matobe Village, and surrounding households will face outages from 9 am to 4 pm.
Bunyore TTC, Ilungu Market, Ematsuli, Esirulo Water Pump, Isanda, and neighboring areas will lose supply from 9 am to 4 pm.
For households, businesses, and institutions, these interruptions may cause temporary inconvenience. However, KPLC emphasizes that the scheduled downtime is essential for ensuring long-term stability. Without such interventions, customers could face unplanned blackouts that are far more disruptive and harder to manage.
The company also reminds consumers to treat all lines as live during outages, since restoration may occur earlier than announced.
