A heated confrontation over an alleged extramarital affair turned into a gruesome homicide in Kisumu, leaving a community in shock and authorities scrambling to track down the suspect.
What began as an ordinary evening at a boda boda base in Nyamasaria took a horrific turn when Rosemary Achieng, alias "Mama Boy," stormed into the scene with vengeance in her eyes. Armed with a kitchen knife, she targeted Brenda Awuor, a 30-year-old M-Pesa shop operator, who was engaged in a casual conversation with Achieng’s husband, John Ayima.
According to witnesses, tension had been mounting between Achieng and Awuor for weeks, with the suspect frequently accusing the victim of having an affair with her husband. Several boda boda operators recalled previous altercations where Achieng had openly confronted Awuor, warning her to stay away from Ayima. However, the warnings seemingly went unheeded.
On the fateful evening, Achieng is said to have approached the two in a fit of fury. Without hesitation, she allegedly lunged at Awuor, stabbing her multiple times in the chest. Boda boda operators who witnessed the attack were left in shock as the suspect delivered one stab after another with chilling precision. Awuor collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath as her attacker fled into the darkness.

The boda boda riders, startled and horrified, scrambled to assist the victim. Some rushed to call for help, while others attempted to administer first aid. However, due to excessive bleeding and the severity of the wounds, Awuor succumbed before medical personnel could arrive.
Her lifeless body was later transported to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for postmortem examination, while police launched a manhunt for the fugitive suspect.
Authorities believe Achieng may have premeditated the attack, given how swiftly she acted and the weapon she carried. Investigators are following leads on her possible whereabouts, but she remains at large.
This tragic incident has sparked conversations on domestic disputes, crime of passion, and the role of community intervention in preventing violence. As law enforcement intensifies efforts to bring Achieng to justice, authorities are urging members of the public with any information to come forward.
Justice for Brenda Awuor remains the priority.
