John Maina, famously known as MC Fullstop, was a celebrated reggae and dancehall hypeman whose career began in the early 1990s. Over nearly three decades, he became a prominent figure in Kenya’s music industry, known for his distinctive voice and electrifying energy on stage.
MC Fullstop rose to fame through his reggae mixes that dominated entertainment venues and music players throughout the 2000s. He toured extensively across East Africa, hosting numerous events and becoming a beloved figure in the reggae fraternity.
Apart from live performances, MC Fullstop also made significant contributions as a media personality. He co-hosted popular shows such as Riddim Vybz on K24 TV and Reggae Boyz on NRG Radio, further cementing his influence in the entertainment industry.
In 2021, MC Fullstop was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), which led to the collapse of his left lung. Unlike the liver, lungs cannot regenerate, and this drastically impacted his health. Despite ongoing treatments and overwhelming support from fans and fellow artists, MC Fullstop passed away on August 1, 2025, with tuberculosis cited as the cause of death. His passing has deeply saddened the Kenyan entertainment community, prompting heartfelt tributes from media personalities and fans alike.
Prominent figures such as radio presenter Maina Kageni, media personality MC Azeezah Hashim, and ODM Communications Director Phillip Etale expressed their sorrow, honoring MC Fullstop as a true Kenyan legend and an unmatched maestro on the microphone.
